3D PS3 Confirmed? | A Good Clue!
Apr 8th
So last weekend I was in Harrods strolling round the Audio Video and Technology departments.
There were some amazing setups with 100″ screens and £100,000 speakers etc.
The LG Section featured its new 3D TV using Polarisation glasses, as do cinemas.
Next was the Sony Centre which had some nice tv’s and amps and the general stuff you would expect to find in any hi-fi shop. Then I saw in the corner was a 3D demo Area. The Setup had a 47″ TV with Blu-Ray Player, Sky HD box and a Slim Line PS3.
The sales guy quickly came over and handed us a pair of Shutter Sync Glasses. He then continued to show us some 3D demo adds and movie clips.
Where was the 3D content coming from?
A Demo Disk in the PS3! Trying to keep it discrete he was using the PS3, quickly changing menus and hiding the remote. But it was obvious it was the PS3 doing the work!
The guy then went on to show me some Games in 3D. Little Big Planet and Wipeout HD. Which looked amazing and the effect was brilliant. Much better than you get in the Cinema.
This means Sony have the code to activate 3D content on the PS3 and have no reason to keep it from the public? Why would they bother developing the code and software to do it then not distribute it?
My bet is that it will be in the next couple of updates.

Sony PSP – Quick Review

Get more of what you want with the all-new PSP-3000 system. It has an advanced LCD screen, which offers the highest-level contrast ratio, best response time and the widest color gamut possible on an LCD screen. It also has anti-reflection technology, so that youll get vibrant and natural colors in any conditions. And the built-in microphone enhances multi-player gaming and enables Skypeâ„¢ calling. Light, slim and as portable as ever. Watch movies. Listen to music. Surf the Internet. You can even watch live and recorded TV. And it all goes down on the dazzling widescreen LCD. Doing it all and looking absolutely brilliant, the all-new PSP-3000 system.
A couple of things are obviously different. The Sony PSP Go is quite a bit smaller that the original PSP and the UMD drive has gone (phew!) and fortunately replaced by 16GB worth of inbuilt storage and a card slot. The Go has snazzy (yet
smaller) 3.8 inch screen which slides up to reveal the D-pad, analogue stick and buttons. Regular PSP users of the past will have cottoned on to the decision to go with storage rather than UMD but we are more interested in the improved online access to rival some of the other portable media devices out there. A wise decision by Sony me thinks!
There is no improvement in performance, no improvement in screen resolution or size, its actually half and inch smaller, and no improvement in the battery, but without the UMD there will hopefully be a great improvement in game loading times.
Just like other online consoles you can buy the games online with your playstation Network ID and they download straight to your hard drive and for existing PS3 owners there is the added functionality of being able to synch them together.

There are some cool new features in the Sony PSP Go however. The built in Skype application turns the PSP Go in to a free phone any time you have a Wi-Fi connection, which is made easier by the ability to link a headset to it via Bluetooth. the storage capacity lets you download or upload movies to it just like a PMP but from several reports out there it seems to be a little unpredictable (hopefully sorted before general release). It can definitely be said that the PSP Go is intended to be a more serious multimedia device that the original version and the functionality has been improved to echo this.
It looks good, and the multimedia device functionality make the Sony PSP Go a fair contender against the iPod Touch but I have to wonder whether they are fighting an up-hill battle. It certainly has much more potential as a gaming device and hopefully the attempt to become and iPod Touch beater hasn’t compromised its functionality as a portable console, after all, thats what we fell in love with the PSP for!
PlayStation 3 – Quick Review

Nothing beats gaming with Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3). It is the third version of PlayStation, which is Sony Computer Entertainments home video console. It has varying memory capacities: 20 GB, 40 GB, 60 GB and up to 160 GB. It comes in Piano Black, Ceramic White, Satin Silver, and Gun-Metal Gray.
The PS3 is a flexible multimedia maestro, capable of far more than just spitting out next-gen games with rapier-sharp graphics. This beautifully built console also delivers glorious high definition movies thanks to its Blu-ray capabilities, and its also a dab hand when it comes to web browsing, live news and weather reports and wirelessly streaming digital media files from your computer. Meanwhile, the near-silent cooling and sturdy build quality puts the noisy, rattly Xbox 360 to shame.
On the flip side, the PS3 is a little lacking when it comes to top games, especially compared to the far cheaper Xbox 360. Whilst there are plenty of solid titles knocking around, Sony’s console still doesn’t have an exclusive killer game to entice hardcore thumb bandits.
Die-hard gamers would be better suited to the Xbox 360 and its huge library of top titles, but theres no denying that the PS3 is an impressive machine of many home entertainment talents, should you be more media minded.
