3D PS3 Confirmed? | A Good Clue!
Apr 8th
So last weekend I was in Harrods strolling round the Audio Video and Technology departments.
There were some amazing setups with 100″ screens and £100,000 speakers etc.
The LG Section featured its new 3D TV using Polarisation glasses, as do cinemas.
Next was the Sony Centre which had some nice tv’s and amps and the general stuff you would expect to find in any hi-fi shop. Then I saw in the corner was a 3D demo Area. The Setup had a 47″ TV with Blu-Ray Player, Sky HD box and a Slim Line PS3.
The sales guy quickly came over and handed us a pair of Shutter Sync Glasses. He then continued to show us some 3D demo adds and movie clips.
Where was the 3D content coming from?
A Demo Disk in the PS3! Trying to keep it discrete he was using the PS3, quickly changing menus and hiding the remote. But it was obvious it was the PS3 doing the work!
The guy then went on to show me some Games in 3D. Little Big Planet and Wipeout HD. Which looked amazing and the effect was brilliant. Much better than you get in the Cinema.
This means Sony have the code to activate 3D content on the PS3 and have no reason to keep it from the public? Why would they bother developing the code and software to do it then not distribute it?
My bet is that it will be in the next couple of updates.

The price for this TV is a high £2,000 which seems high considering they will be £800 in a years time when all the other TV company’s have released their version. The same as what happened with LCD and Plasma.
But also this is only the TV to display the 3D content. You need a source of 3D. Which if you own a PS3 could be in one of the next updates between now an june.
Sky to broadcast 3D TV.
Feb 21st

Its been confirmed from sky now that they will be launching 3D TV later this year. Apparently June.

After sitting in the cinema waiting for Avatar 3D to start with the boring adverts you get for about 20 minutes before the actual film, one advert did catch my eye. The Sky HD 3D advert.
This was an actual sky advert advertising the fact they will be broadcasting 3D channels in June. It will use the original HD box to output.

But of course your not going to just be able to hook it up to a normal HDTV you’re going to need a brand new 3D TV or 3D projector. O and a nice pair of fashionable 3D Glasses.
There has been no mention of how much this 3D package will cost nor what channels or how many will be included.
Only time will tell how this service will work and how popular it will be.

Sony Brings 3D Home in 2010
Feb 15th

Sony’s 3D compatible “BRAVIA” LCD TVs incorporate frame sequential display and active-shutter glass systems*1, together with Sony’s proprietary high frame rate technology to enable the reproduction of full High Definition*2 high-quality 3D images, and will form the centerpiece of Sony’s 3D entertainment experience for the home.
In addition to 3D compatible “BRAVIA” LCD TVs, Sony will also develop 3D compatibility into many more of its devices, such as Blu-ray Disc products, VAIO and PlayStation3, to provide a multitude of ways in which 3D content – from 3D movies to stereoscopic 3D games – can be enjoyed in the home.
Also with the latest rumour of the PS3 update which will support 3D gaming and movies this could be a big success.
