There were a couple of features which steve jobs made clear were not going to be in there….

  1. No Flash
  2. No Java

There were also a few other ’smaller’ features which were made apparent during the event

  • Home Screen Wallpaper
  • Lock screen iPod controls can control Pandora
  • Voice over IP

So did steve announce things that people wanted?

  • A New Lock Screen? – Not really.
  • A New Home Screen – Well its now got Wallpaper feature!
  • Vertical Swiping – None mentioned
  • Overhaul App navigation via Folders or Éxpose – Yes folder features but not éxpose.
  • Multitasking – Definitely now a feature!
  • Flash – A Blunt “NO”
  • Ability to Disable landscape mode – Not mentioned at the event.
  • Ability for Apps to remember where they were – Well this properly comes under multitasking.
  • Ability to Remove apple branded Apps – Not shown at the event although i guess you could put them in a folder to get them off the main home screen!
  • A Documents Folder – Nope not seen.
  • Calendar events on the Lock Screen – No
  • Local App notifications – Yes! Local Push notifications.
  • Background Audio whilst in other Apps – Yes works through the Multi-Tasking feature!

So it seems Apple have listened to some features but not to others. But over time i guess they could be added! The more obvious features like multi-tasking have been developed to the top of their ability! And apparently doesn’t affect battery life of Performance!
